The Scale Flying Day has been organised by the BMFA South Midland Area and is aimed at providing an insight into the flying side of BMFA RC Scale competitions – that and having a great day flying scale models and admiring each other’s models…
Open to pilots all levels of skill and experience, a number of competition pilots and a flight judge will be on hand to give advice and guidance on:
Choosing Flight Manoeuvres
Different manoeuvres suit different subject aircraft so it’s handy to choose manoeuvres that would make the subject aircraft look good.
Presenting Manoeuvres
An experienced competition flier will demonstrate manoeuvres on request whilst a flight judge openly passes comment.
Judging/Scoring Flights
For those more interested in judging flights, there will be the opportunity to judge with an experienced flight judge and compare thoughts
Coached Flights
You’ll have an experienced national competitor as your wingman/caller who will be able to guide you through a competition flight and get the thoughts of a flight judge.
All you need is a scale model (a reasonable representation of a real aircraft would be nice but you’ll get away with cartoon scale) such as foam RTF models, ARTF models, and kit/ scratch-built models.
Non-flying attendees are welcome to come along and join in the discussions and ground activities.
