Festival of Scale is taking place over the weekend of 29th and 30th of June at the BMFA National Centre at Buckminster.

The event is an excellent introduction to the world of scale, covering a range of disciplines to promote and illustrate the diversity of scale aeromodelling.

The concept of Festival of Scale is to make the world of scale aeromodelling accessible to the aeromodeller who might be considering entering a scale competition but might be nervous in getting started or those aeromodellers who would like to experience what scale aeromodelling has to offer first hand.

Festival of Scale isn’t just limited to scale radio control, all scale disciplines are welcome with themed flying slots taking place throughout the weekend.

There will be an opportunity to fly scale control line models at Festival of Scale.

The Free Flight Scale Nationals will also be taking place over the weekend in the evenings when the air is calmer and should make for a great spectator event. There will also be opportunity for further free flight flying once the Nationals competitions have taken place.

Please note that jet turbines are not permitted at Festival of Scale.

A BMFA “A” Achievement Certificate is required to fly a model up to 7.5kg. A “B” Certificate is required to fly models over 7.5kg.

Prior arrangements for flying models over 25kg must be made with National Centre before modellers attend the weekend of Festival of Scale.

Sunday 30th June sees a flying display of a typical scale competition routine flown by the current BMFA F4C Champion.

Scale techniques sessions will be taking place in the Goldsmith Hangar throughout the weekend; a varied programme of presentations will be taking place so why not participate and learn a new technique or two!

Please note there will be an entry/flying fee of £10.00 payable per day.

On site camping will be available over the weekend at the National Centre; further information can be obtained at:nationalcentre.bmfa.org/visitor-info/camping

The weather forecast for the weekend suggests sunny intervals and a gentle breeze so almost perfect conditions to fly, (fingers crossed!), so why not join us for what promises to be an extravaganza of all things scale aeromodelling!
